Their Story
Bob and Martha met through mutual friends, Jan and Tom Dodson. Their first date didn’t go exactly as planned—Bob fell asleep during the movie (something Martha would later learn is one of his specialties!). Luckily for him, she gave him another chance.
They were married on Valentine’s Day in 1976 at St. Sebastian Church in Akron, Ohio. The first few years of marriage were full of adventure before their family began to grow. They enjoyed driving their Volkswagen Beetles, taking trips to Florida with friends, and buying their first home on Arthur Avenue in Canal Fulton.
Over the years, Bob and Martha built a beautiful life together in Canal Fulton, where they raised their four daughters. Their family life was centered around their parish at Sts. Philip and James, along with many happy memories of boating, camping, and time spent together.
Today, they are incredibly proud of their daughters, their families, and their five wonderful grandchildren. Bob and Martha also adore their two fluffy white dogs and are excited about the next chapter of life as they prepare to move into their new home in Fairlawn.
After fifty years of marriage, their story continues to be one filled with love, laughter, and family.
