The Flasco Family at Everett Bridge
There's something special about a family that knows exactly what they want out of a photo session — and doesn't want it to be stiff.
That's exactly what I got with the Flasco family at Everett Bridge in Akron.
Keeping It Natural
Terri, the grandmother of the group, put it perfectly when we were planning the shoot: she wanted pictures that represented the natural them.
Her son and daughter, Peyton and Maddie, both work outside for a living, so lining everyone up and asking them to hold a pose for the camera was never going to be a problem. But that wasn't really the goal. The goal was capturing the goofiness, the warmth, the in-between moments — not just the polished ones.
Three Generations at the Bridge
We had three generations out at the bridge that day: Terri, Maddie and Peyton, Peyton's wife Lina, and the two littlest members of the family, PJ (2) and Penny (5 months).
Anyone who's photographed toddlers knows that a 2-year-old's attention span and a camera's timing don't always line up. Terri came prepared for exactly that — pinwheels and bubbles in tow, ready to catch PJ's attention and coax out some genuine reactions. And if a big grin wasn't in the cards for a particular shot, that was fine too. The instruction was simple: let the kids be who they are.
Real Moments Over Perfect Poses
That mindset made for one of the most relaxed, fun sessions I've had at Everett Bridge.
There's a rhythm that happens when a family stops performing for the camera and just starts being together — laughing at something only they find funny, a toddler chasing bubbles instead of looking at the lens, a baby squinting into the sun on her dad's shoulder. Those are the frames that end up meaning the most, and this family made room for all of them.
A Big Thank You
Huge thanks to the Flasco family for trusting me with this session, and for bringing exactly the kind of energy that makes for great photos — genuine, a little chaotic, and full of love.
